Altec Aerial Device Recall 23V525: Missing Breaker Can Overheat Power Circuit, Causing Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 23V525, reported July 27, 2023, 535 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain aerial devices and digger derricks from model years 2022 and 2023 may have been built with a power inverter that converts DC power to AC power but lacks a circuit breaker to protect the AC output circuit. Without that protection, the AC circuit can overheat.

Overheating in the electrical system raises the risk of a fire. Owners should watch for any signs of a problem with the vehicle's electrical system and contact the manufacturer promptly if they have concerns.

The repair is free. Altec will install a 20-amp circuit breaker in the AC circuit at an authorized dealer at no cost to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed December 21, 2023. You can contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832 and reference recall number CSN 3103. You should also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
