Sportsmobile Ford Transit Recall 23V498: Fuel Hose Can Leak and Raise Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 23V498, reported July 19, 2023, 13 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some generator sets installed in these campervan conversions may have a fuel hose between the inline fuel filter and the Injection Pump Module that is not properly secured. Over time this can allow gasoline to leak from the hose or its fittings.

A fuel leak creates a fire hazard if it meets an ignition source, which increases the risk of a fire. Owners should take this recall seriously and avoid running the generator if they notice a fuel smell or any sign of leaking fuel.

The repair is free. Contact Sportsmobile customer service at 1-512-835-4409 or visit an authorized dealer, where the fuel hose and clamps will be inspected and replaced as necessary. Owner notification letters were mailed August 23, 2023. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any other open recalls.
