Toyota RAV4 Recall 23V485: Tire valve stem may leak air, risking tire failure

NHTSA campaign 23V485, reported July 11, 2023, 195 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain vehicles were fitted with 17-inch black alloy accessory wheels that may have had the tire valve stem improperly installed or damaged during installation. The load carrying capacity label may also show an incorrect weight, so the vehicle does not fully meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 for tire selection and rims.

A damaged or improperly installed valve stem can let air escape and allow the tires to become underinflated. Underinflated tires raise the risk of tire failure and a crash.

Authorized dealers will inspect the wheel valve stems and replace them if needed, and will replace the load carrying capacity label, all at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 18, 2023. You can contact Gulf States Toyota customer service at 1-800-444-1074 (recall 23R1), and you should check your VIN for any open recalls.
