Nova Bus LFS Recall 23V482: Transit Bus Driveshaft Can Separate, Causing Power Loss

NHTSA campaign 23V482, reported July 12, 2023, 414 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some transit buses may have a transmission yoke that can separate, causing the driveshaft to come loose and the bus to suddenly lose drive power. A sudden loss of power can increase the risk of a crash. A disabled bus may also need to be evacuated in traffic, which raises the risk of injury to passengers.

Authorized dealers will inspect the output yoke bolts and tighten any that are loose, if needed. The repair is free of charge. The recall is being completed in phases: the first phase covers certain 2019 to 2023 LFS buses, and the second phase covers certain 2019 to 2020 LFS Artic buses, with a second notice to be mailed once the remedy is available, expected in January 2025.

Owners can contact Nova Bus customer service at 1-800-350-6682, referencing recall number CR5442. Owners can also check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
