Yamaha Tenere 700 Recall 23V472: Front brake caliper bolts may strip threads, risking brake loss

NHTSA campaign 23V472, reported July 10, 2023, 211 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The front brake calipers on this motorcycle may have been assembled with bolts of incorrect thread length. Over time, this can damage the threads in the caliper's mounting holes, and a damaged caliper can detach from the bike, causing a loss of braking ability and raising the risk of a crash.

Until the repair is done, do not ride the motorcycle. The only permitted use is taking it to an authorized dealer. Dealers will inspect the front brake caliper bolts and replace them if needed. If the mounting-hole threads are already damaged, the caliper will be replaced. All repairs are free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 20, 2023. You can also contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926 and reference recall number 990168. Check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
