Land Rover Discovery Recall 23V393: Rear Doors May Open While Driving, Warning Light May Fail

NHTSA campaign 23V393, reported June 1, 2023, 29,861 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2017-2020 Land Rover Discovery vehicles have a UniLatch Keyless Vehicle entry function that may fail to properly latch the rear passenger doors. A door that is not fully latched can open while the vehicle is being driven. The instrument cluster open-door warning light may also fail to alert the driver that a door is unsecured.

Rear passenger doors opening while driving can increase the risk of a crash, and a warning light that fails to show an unsecured door can increase the risk of injury in a crash. Owner notification letters were mailed July 26, 2023.

The remedy is free: an authorized dealer will disable the UniLatch Keyless Vehicle entry function at no charge. You can contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837 (Land Rover recall number N798), and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
