Wabash National DRY Van Recall 23V383: Trailer King Pin May Detach, Risking Loss of Control

NHTSA campaign 23V383, reported May 30, 2023, 40 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

This recall covers certain 2024 dry van trailers in which the king pin was not welded properly. The king pin can detach within the upper coupler, which is the part that connects the trailer to the tractor.

If the detached king pin moves unintentionally, the trailer can lose control, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and have their trailer checked promptly.

Dealers will replace the upper coupler assembly free of charge. Owners who have not yet received a notification letter, which was mailed July 18, 2023, can contact Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404. You can also check your trailer's VIN for open recalls.
