Ferrara Ultra Recall 23V317: Winch May Run Unintentionally Due to Water in Remote

What this recall means for you

Water can get into the wireless handheld remote that controls the winch on certain 2022 Ferrara Inferno and Ultra fire trucks. The moisture can corrode the remote's circuit board, which may cause the winch to operate unintentionally. An unintended winch operation increases the risk of injury.

To address the problem, Ferrara Fire will work with Warn Industries to send owners instructions for inspecting the remote for corrosion and disabling its wireless function by removing the battery pack. If corrosion or water intrusion is found when the battery pack is removed, stop using the remote and contact WARN customer service for a replacement remote, provided free of charge.

Problem
Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Inc. (Ferrara Fire) is recalling certain 2022 Ultra and Inferno fire trucks, equipped with a Warn Winch and a wireless handheld remote. Water may enter the handheld remote control for the winch and cause circuit board corrosion, which can allow the winch to operate unintentionally.
Risk
A winch that operates unintentionally increases the risk of injury.
Remedy
Ferrara Fire will work with Warn Industries, Inc. to provide owners instructions on how to inspect the remote for corrosion and disable the wireless function by removing the battery pack from the remote. If corrosion or water intrusion is found when removing the battery pack, owners should stop using the remote and contact WARN customer service for a replacement remote, free of charge. All affected vehicles were repaired by June 25, 2023. Owners may contact Ferrara customer service at 1-800-443-9006.
