East TO West Della Terra Recall 23V290: Incorrect Weight Label May Lead to Trailer Overloading

NHTSA campaign 23V290, reported April 24, 2023, 64 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The federal certification placard on certain travel trailers may list the wrong dry weight and cargo carrying capacity. Because the posted cargo limit may be inaccurate, an owner could load more than the trailer is designed to carry, which increases the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected trailer, contact your authorized dealer. They will replace the federal placard free of charge. You may also call Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-264-6664 and reference recall number 500-1630. Owner notification letters were mailed May 4, 2023.

Until the placard is replaced, do not rely on the posted cargo capacity. Check your VIN for open recalls at NHTSA's website to confirm whether your trailer is included.
