Capacity TJ 5000 Recall 23V219: Loose steering axle fasteners can cause loss of control

NHTSA campaign 23V219, reported March 30, 2023, 53 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2020-2023 Capacity TJ 5000 vehicles may have front-drive steer axle fasteners that loosen over time. If they loosen enough, the steer axle assembly joints can completely separate.

A separated steer axle can cause a loss of vehicle control, which raises the risk of a crash. Because the steering system is involved, this is a serious safety issue and should be addressed promptly.

The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the steer axle assembly and replace the pro-torque nut keeper at no charge. Contact Capacity of Texas customer service at 1-800-323-0135 or visit an authorized dealer, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
