Forest River Pause Recall 23V201: Trailer brakes may fail to activate in a breakaway

NHTSA campaign 23V201, reported March 24, 2023, 12 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2023 Forest River Pause travel trailers may have the breakaway switch wired incorrectly. This can stop the battery from charging, which leaves the breakaway switch without power.

A breakaway switch that has no power will not activate the trailer brakes if the trailer separates from the tow vehicle. Without working trailer brakes, the risk of a crash increases.

Dealers will rewire the breakaway switch at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed April 3, 2023. You can contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-327-2681, referencing recall number 426-1613, and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
