Can-AM Ryker Recall 23V175: Brake lights may stay on without braking, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 23V175, reported March 17, 2023, 34,457 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Can-Am Spyder RT and Ryker three-wheeled motorcycles may have brake lights that stay illuminated even when the brake pedal is not pressed. This does not meet the federal lighting safety standard for brake lights.

Brake lights that remain on can fail to clearly show other drivers when the rider is actually slowing or stopping, and that confusion can increase the risk of a crash.

Authorized dealers will inspect and, as needed, replace, adjust, or add a spring to the brake light switch, free of charge. Owners can contact BRP Customer Service at 1-888-272-9222 and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
