Ford F-53 Recall 23V164: Loose Rear Brake Caliper Bolts Can Damage Brakes

NHTSA campaign 23V164, reported March 10, 2023, 644 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Rear brake caliper attachment bolts may not have been tightened correctly at the factory. Over time, a loose caliper can shift and damage the wheel or the brake line. A damaged wheel can cause a loss of tire pressure, and a damaged brake line can leak brake fluid and reduce braking performance. Either condition raises the risk of a crash.

Authorized Ford dealers will inspect the rear caliper bolts and tighten them as needed, and will replace any damaged bolts. The repair is free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 27, 2023. You can also contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 23S11.

If you own a 2022 Ford F-53 or F-59, check your VIN for open recalls and schedule the inspection with a dealer as soon as possible.
