What this recall means for you
Some Genesis vehicles from 2020 to 2023 have front seat belt pretensioners that may explode when they deploy during a crash. The explosion can send metal fragments into the cabin, where they may strike occupants and cause injury.
Dealers will secure the seat belt pretensioners with a cap at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed April 14, 2023. Owners of the 2023 GV60 received interim notices on the same date, and a second notice will follow once the final remedy is available. This recall supersedes and expands recall 21V-796, so vehicles previously repaired under that recall will need the new remedy as well.
To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your VIN for open recalls and contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460, referencing Hyundai recall number 012G. Visit an authorized Genesis dealer to have the free repair completed.
