Nissan Rogue Recall 23V093: Folding Key Can Shut Off Engine While Driving

NHTSA campaign 23V093, reported February 16, 2023, 712,458 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Nissan Rogue and Rogue Sport vehicles have a jackknife-style ignition key that can collapse into a folded position while the vehicle is being driven. If the driver contacts the key in this collapsed position, the vehicle can be inadvertently shut off during operation.

An engine shutoff while driving raises the risk of a crash. In addition, if the vehicle shuts off while driving, the air bags may not deploy in a crash as intended, which increases the risk of injury.

Nissan will free of charge insert a spacer into the key slot of the jackknife key at an authorized dealer. Owners can call Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669 with questions, and should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
