Audi Q7 Recall 23V086: Incorrect axle weight label can lead to overloading

NHTSA campaign 23V086, reported February 15, 2023, 12,100 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2009 through 2015 Audi Q7 vehicles have a certification label that lists an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) for the rear axle. Because the listed rating is wrong, the vehicle may be loaded beyond what it is designed to carry, and these vehicles also fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 (tire selection and rims) and Part 567 (certification) requirements.

An overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash. Owners should not assume the label on their vehicle is accurate, and should avoid exceeding the load limits shown on the label while the recall is open.

The remedy is free. An authorized Audi dealer will install an overlay label with the correct rear GAWR on top of the existing safety certification label. Owner notification letters were mailed April 24, 2023. For questions, contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 and reference recall number 50G5. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
