Jeep Compass Recall 23V058: Center display may be too dim to see in daylight

What this recall means for you

The center instrument cluster display in certain vehicles may not be lit enough to be seen during daytime driving. The display can fail to show important information such as the fuel gauge and warning lights, and the vehicles do not meet federal display visibility requirements.

Because the driver may be unable to see fuel levels or warning indicators, the risk of a crash increases. Owners should watch for a display that is hard to read in daylight and should not ignore warning lights they cannot clearly see.

Authorized dealers will replace the windshield and headlamp switch, add a light sensor module, and add a wiring jumper harness so the center display backlighting works correctly. The repair is free. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
Problem
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Jeep Compass vehicles. The instrument panel center cluster display may be insufficiently illuminated and may not appear visible during daytime driving conditions. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Control and Displays."
Risk
An instrument panel display that is not visible to the driver may result in the inability to see safety-critical information, such as the fuel gauge and warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the windshield and headlamp switch, add a light sensor module, and add a wiring jumper harness to allow the instrument panel center cluster display backlighting to function correctly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 30, 2023. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 15A.
