Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Recall 23V047: Rear diesel tank can collapse, causing engine stalls

NHTSA campaign 23V047, reported February 2, 2023, 22,132 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2017-2018 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks equipped with a dual fuel tank option, the rear fuel tank may collapse. When this happens, the fuel pump cannot transfer fuel to the front tank, and the engine can stall. An engine stall raises the risk of a crash.

If you own one of these trucks, dealers will inspect the fuel tank and fuel pump module and replace them as needed. They will also add a vent hose to the rear tank assembly. The repair is free of charge at an authorized dealer. You can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and you should check your VIN for open recalls.
