Land Rover Range Rover Phev Recall 23V031: Hybrid SUV May Not Warn Pedestrians When Reversing

NHTSA campaign 23V031, reported January 26, 2023, 868 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

These vehicles do not produce enough warning sound for pedestrians when they are stationary or moving in reverse. The hybrid models fall short of the federal minimum sound requirements for hybrid and electric vehicles, so people nearby, including pedestrians, may not notice an approaching vehicle.

When pedestrians are unaware of a vehicle backing up or starting to move, the risk of a crash increases. Owners should take this seriously when parking, pulling out, or in areas with people close to the vehicle.

An authorized dealer will update the audio amplifier software at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed March 16, 2023. To check whether your vehicle is included, enter your VIN on the NHTSA recall lookup, or contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837 (Land Rover recall number N742).
