Forest River Amera-Lite Recall 23V015: Trailer Drawbar Can Crack and Cause Loss of Control

NHTSA campaign 23V015, reported January 20, 2023, 296 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2016-2017 Amera-Lite cargo trailers have welded drawbars that may not be strong enough for the trailer's gross vehicle weight rating. Under load, the drawbar can fracture.

A fractured drawbar can cause the trailer to lose control and increases the risk of a crash. If you own an affected trailer, stop using it for towing until the drawbar is inspected or replaced.

Authorized dealers will replace the drawbars free of charge. Owners who received a notification letter mailed March 1, 2023 can contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-848-1335 (recall number 24-1592). You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
