Lincoln Aviator Recall 22V953: Seat belt warning chime may stop too soon

NHTSA campaign 22V953, reported December 23, 2022, 101,001 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain Lincoln Aviator and Corsair vehicles with a Revel Audio System, the seat belt warning chime for the driver may sound for less than 4 seconds when the vehicle is started and the driver's belt is not buckled. This means the chime may not properly alert the driver, and the vehicles do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

An audible warning that does not fully remind an unbelted driver can increase the risk of injury in a crash. Wearing a seat belt is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself in a collision.

The repair is free. Dealers will update the audio control module software. Owner notification letters were mailed February 7, 2023. To check whether your vehicle is affected, look up your VIN for open recalls, or contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall 22C35.
