RAM Promaster Recall 22V947: Rearview camera may not work, raising backover crash risk

NHTSA campaign 22V947, reported December 22, 2022, 38 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2022 Ram ProMaster Chassis Cab and incomplete vehicles were built with an analog rearview camera. This is the wrong type of camera for these vehicles and cannot be properly installed. As a result, the vehicles do not meet federal rear visibility requirements.

An inoperative rearview camera reduces the driver's view behind the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash, particularly when backing up. If your vehicle is affected, the dealer will install a digital rearview camera free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 7, 2023. You can also contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403, referencing recall number ZC5.

Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is included, and schedule the free repair at an authorized dealer.
