Fccc MT50E Recall 22V914: Gear indicator may show wrong gear, risking crash

NHTSA campaign 22V914, reported December 9, 2022, 23 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The gear position indicator (PRNDL display) on these electric walk-in vans may not show the correct gear. This is a repair that was previously done under an earlier recall, and the vehicles still fail to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 102, which covers transmission shift lever sequence and related requirements.

Because the display can be inaccurate, the driver may not know which gear the transmission is actually in. That can lead to an unintended gear shift, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect the gear shifter and replace it if necessary, at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed February 2, 2023. You can contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 (recall number FL-961), and you can check your VIN for open recalls.
