Volvo VNL Recall 22V896: Air Tank Bracket Bolts May Break, Risking Tank Detaching

NHTSA campaign 22V896, reported December 6, 2022, 412 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Volvo VNL trucks from 2022 and 2023 have air tank bracket fasteners that were tightened too much during assembly, so they may break over time.

If the fasteners break, the air tank could detach from the vehicle. A loose tank can become a road hazard for other drivers and raises the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. Authorized Volvo dealers will replace the fasteners at no charge. Owners who received the notification letter mailed December 16, 2022 can contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586, referencing recall RVXX2205. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
