Spartan Fire FC-94 Recall 22V879: Steering Tie Rods May Separate, Causing Loss of Steering

NHTSA campaign 22V879, reported November 29, 2022, 20 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain fire trucks may have tie rod clamps that were improperly heat-treated. The clamps can fail, allowing the steering tie rods to separate from the vehicle.

If a tie rod separates, the driver can suddenly lose steering control, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners of affected vehicles should take this recall seriously and arrange a repair as soon as possible.

The remedy is free: an authorized dealer will replace both tie rod clamps at no charge. Owners who received a notification letter, mailed December 6, 2022, can also contact Alexis Fire Equipment Company customer service at 1-309-482-6121.
