Utilimaster Walk-IN Van Recall 22V856: Loose Nut Can Let Bumper Detach, Creating Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 22V856, reported November 18, 2022, 153 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

This recall covers certain 2023 walk-in vans in which the retaining nut holding the bumper's shock mount may have been installed improperly. Over time the nut can loosen.

If the nut loosens, the bumper can detach from the vehicle. A detached bumper becomes a road hazard for other drivers and raises the risk of a crash.

A remedy is still being developed, and the manufacturer has not yet set a schedule for owner notification. Owners can contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-8582-3454 for updates. In the meantime, check your VIN for open recalls on NHTSA's website.
