Proterra Catalyst Recall 22V855: Parking Brake Can Engage While Driving, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 22V855, reported November 18, 2022, 386 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Back pressure in the shared air exhaust for the ride height system and parking brake control valve can cause the parking brake to engage while the bus is moving. This happens without the driver applying it, which increases the risk of a crash.

If you own an affected Proterra Catalyst or ZX5 transit bus, Proterra will install a redesigned air circuit at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 21, 2022. You can also contact Proterra customer service at 1-864-438-0000, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
