Spartan K2 Recall 22V785: Undersized Air Brake Reservoir Can Reduce Braking

NHTSA campaign 22V785, reported October 19, 2022, 540 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The air brake supply reservoir on these vehicles is smaller than required. It is less than 12 times the combined volume of air used by all service brake chambers, so the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121, "Air Brake Systems." During repeated braking, the reservoir may not supply enough air to operate the brakes properly, which reduces braking performance and increases the risk of a crash.

The Shyft Group will replace the air supply reservoir free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 23, 2022. If you have questions, contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-582-3454 and reference recall number 22-14. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls on NHTSA's website.
