Schwarze A9SE Monsoon Recall 22V761: Hopper lift may keep rising after being turned off

NHTSA campaign 22V761, reported October 11, 2022, 3 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2021 and 2022 Schwarze A9SE Monsoon single-engine street sweepers can have a hydraulic problem in the hopper lift system. The open center valve manifold can let hydraulic fluid keep flowing into the lift after the operator has disengaged it, so the hopper may continue to rise unexpectedly.

The danger is that a hopper that keeps rising can strike an overhead obstruction or cause debris to fall, which increases the risk of injury to the operator and people nearby. If you own one of these sweepers, stop using the hopper lift if it does not stop when disengaged, and take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The repair is free: dealers will install additional valves at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 6, 2022, and you can contact Alamo Group customer service at 1-830-379-1480 with questions. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
