- Problem
- Wabash National Corporation (Wabash) is recalling certain 2020-2023 RFALHSA trailers. The lift gate obscures the rear conspicuity tape placed at deck height. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
- Risk
- Obscured conspicuity tape may reduce visibility of the rear of the trailer for nearby drivers and increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy
- Wabash will supply conspicuity tape, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 4, 2022. Owners may contact Wabash's customer service at 1-765-771-5404.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
What this recall means for you
On certain 2020-2023 Wabash RFALHSA trailers, the liftgate covers the rear conspicuity tape mounted at deck height. Because the tape is obscured, the trailer does not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108, which governs lamps and reflective devices.
With the tape hidden, the rear of the trailer may be harder for nearby drivers to see, particularly at night or in poor visibility, which can increase the risk of a crash.
Wabash will supply replacement conspicuity tape free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 4, 2022. To get the remedy or ask questions, contact Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404, and check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
