BMW S 1000 RR Recall 22V752: Loose clutch cover can leak oil and raise crash or fire risk

NHTSA campaign 22V752, reported October 7, 2022, 951 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The clutch cover bolts on these motorcycles were not lubricated properly during assembly. Over time, the cover can become loose and leak oil from the clutch area.

An oil leak at the clutch cover increases the risk of a crash or fire. Oil on the tire or rear wheel can reduce traction, and oil that reaches hot engine parts can ignite.

BMW dealers will replace all 10 clutch cover bolts free of charge. Owners who received the notification letter mailed December 6, 2022 can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. You can also check your VIN for open recalls on the NHTSA website and stop riding until the repair is complete if you notice oil leaking near the clutch.
