BMW X7 Recall 22V670: Third-Row Seatback May Not Lock in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 22V670, reported September 7, 2022, 246 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some third-row seats may have compression springs that were not installed correctly, or are missing. These springs help lock the seatback in place. If a spring is improperly installed, it could dislodge or detach, so the seatback may not fully lock during a crash, which increases the risk of injury to occupants sitting in the third row.

If you own an affected vehicle, an authorized BMW dealer will inspect the third-row seat and, if needed, remove and reinstall improperly installed springs or reinstall any missing springs. This repair is free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 4, 2022. For questions, you can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417, and you can also check your VIN for open recalls.
