Forest River Rockwood Recall 22V643: Wrong axle rating on label can lead to overloading and crashes

NHTSA campaign 22V643, reported August 26, 2022, 6 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The federal certification label on certain 2023 fifth wheel trailers lists an axle rating of 5,200 pounds, but the correct rating is 5,000 pounds. Following the incorrect label could lead owners to load the trailer beyond what its axles can safely carry.

An overloaded trailer can cause a loss of vehicle control, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware that the printed rating is wrong and should not rely on it when deciding how much weight to load.

Dealers will replace the Federal Placards free of charge. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-8943 and reference recall number 10-1549. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
