Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner HDX Recall 22V634: School Bus Seat Barriers May Not Protect Riders in a Crash

NHTSA campaign 22V634, reported August 19, 2022, 7,561 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Thomas Built Saf-T-Liner HDX school buses have forward seat barriers that may not provide sufficient protection to passengers. Because of this, the buses do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 222 for school bus passenger seating and crash protection. In a crash, occupants could strike the front seat barriers with more force than intended, increasing the risk of injury.

Dealers will install a spacer between the seat rail and the seat barrier at no cost to the owner. If you operate or own an affected bus, contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 to arrange the repair, and check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls. This recall replaces NHTSA recall 19V899.
