What this recall means for you
Certain 2021 Peterbilt 220 and 2022 Kenworth K270 trucks have software in the electric powertrain control unit that may prevent it from processing stability control commands while the vehicle is in regenerative braking mode. This means stability control may not respond as it should in that condition.
If stability control does not act when needed, the risk of a crash increases. Owners should be aware of this issue, particularly when driving in slippery or demanding conditions.
The remedy is free: an authorized dealer will update the electric powertrain control unit with new software at no cost to you. According to the notice, all vehicles were remedied in October. You can contact Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5888 or Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220, and check your VIN for open recalls.
