IC Bus Cesb Recall 22V610: Engine May Stall Unexpectedly Due to ECM Short Circuit

NHTSA campaign 22V610, reported August 10, 2022, 33 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The engine control module (ECM) in certain 2023 IC CE school buses may develop an internal electrical short circuit. When this happens, the engine can stall without warning.

An unexpected engine stall can increase the risk of a crash, particularly in traffic or while the bus is moving. Owners should take this recall seriously, especially given the vehicle's role in transporting students.

The remedy is free: Cummins will replace the engine control module at an authorized dealer. Owners who received the notification letter mailed September 26, 2022, can also contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. You can check whether your vehicle has any open recalls by entering its VIN on the NHTSA website.
