Prime Time Tracer Recall 22V586: Tail Light Can Melt and Fail, Reducing Visibility

NHTSA campaign 22V586, reported August 5, 2022, 22 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A tail light on certain travel trailers may be mounted too close to the water heater exhaust. Heat from that exhaust can cause the light's lens to melt, distorting the light or making it stop working.

A distorted or inoperative tail light can make the trailer harder for other drivers to see and can confuse them about the vehicle's position, which increases the risk of a crash. If you own a trailer of this type, contact the manufacturer, Forest River, at 1-574-862-1025 or check whether an authorized dealer has the recall on file. Owner notification letters were mailed August 26, 2022.

The remedy is free: an authorized dealer will install a flush-mount tail light at no cost to you. You can also check your trailer's VIN for any open recalls.
