Blue Bird Vision School Bus Recall 22V578: Fuel Return Line May Corrode and Leak, Raising Fire Risk

NHTSA campaign 22V578, reported August 4, 2022, 49 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain Blue Bird Vision buses fitted with Roush GEN 4 or GEN 5 LPG conversion systems have fuel return lines whose zinc plating can break away when struck by road debris. This lets two dissimilar metals touch and corrode the line.

A corroded fuel line can leak fuel, which increases the risk of a fire. Owners in the affected states listed in the recall should take this seriously.

The repair is free. Take your bus to an authorized Blue Bird dealer, who will replace the fuel return lines at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed May 24, 2023. You can also call Blue Bird customer service at 1-478-822-2242 (recall number R22BX-NSB) and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
