What this recall means for you
The engine control module (ECM), the computer that manages engine operation, may develop an internal short circuit. When this happens, the engine can shut down unexpectedly while the vehicle is being driven.
An unexpected engine shutdown can increase the risk of a crash, since loss of engine power may leave you unable to maintain speed, merge, or steer safely in traffic. Owners should be alert to any sign of engine trouble and follow standard safe-driving practices.
The remedy is free: Cummins will replace the ECM at no charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 26, 2022. You can also contact Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 1-800-547-0712 (recall FL-949), and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls at an authorized dealer.
