Lion Lionc Recall 22V530: Parking Brake May Fail, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 22V530, reported July 22, 2022, 39 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2020-2022 Lion C school buses may have a parking brake that fails if it is not properly adjusted. The defect means these vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 105 for hydraulic and electric brake systems.

A parking brake that fails to hold can allow the bus to roll when it is supposed to be stationary, which increases the risk of a crash. Owners should take this recall seriously and have the vehicle inspected promptly.

The remedy is free. Authorized dealers will reroute the parking brake cable and adjust the parking lever at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 16, 2022. You can also contact Lion Electric customer service at 1-855-546-6706, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
