Nissan Rogue Recall 22V527: Rearview camera may shut off, increasing crash risk

NHTSA campaign 22V527, reported July 21, 2022, 10,477 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain Nissan vehicles, the infotainment head unit may reboot when the Sirius XM subscription is set to "Not Subscribed." When this happens, the rearview camera display can stop working. Because the camera is not operating, the driver has reduced rear visibility, which raises the risk of a crash. The vehicles covered by this recall do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111, "Rear Visibility."

The remedy is a free software update to the infotainment system. An authorized Nissan dealer will perform the update, or it may be delivered over the air. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed on July 29, 2022. You can also contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, and you should check your vehicle's VIN for open recalls.

Until the update is installed, check that your rearview camera is working before backing up, and use your mirrors and a visual check of the area behind the vehicle.
