Tesla Model S Recall 22V526: Passenger Airbag May Deploy Incorrectly in Low-Speed Crashes

NHTSA campaign 22V526, reported July 21, 2022, 5 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

The front bumper carrier structure in certain vehicles may alter the crash detection system, which can cause the front passenger airbag to deploy incorrectly during some low-speed crashes. The vehicles therefore do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208 for occupant crash protection.

An airbag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury to the front passenger in a crash. Owners should not ignore this recall, even if the vehicle seems to be operating normally.

Tesla Service will replace the front bumper carrier structure at no cost to the owner. Owner notification letters were mailed September 19, 2022. You can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752, referencing recall SB-22-10-006, and you can check your VIN for any open recalls.
