What this recall means for you
Certain 2022 Kia Sorento and Telluride vehicles may have an incorrect temporary spare tire installed. When that spare is in use, it can impair the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and traction control system (TCS), and the vehicles do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 110 for tire selection and rims.
Impaired anti-lock braking or traction control can increase the risk of a crash. If you have a spare tire on your vehicle, the problem is most relevant when that spare is installed in place of a regular tire.
Dealers will inspect the spare tire and replace it if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 27, 2022. You can contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 (Kia recall SC244), and you should check your VIN for open recalls.
