Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 Recall 22V493: Rearview Camera May Not Display Image, Raising Crash Risk

What this recall means for you

The rearview camera display may fail to show the rear view because of a software error in the MBUX multimedia system. Without a working camera image, the driver has less visibility behind the vehicle, which increases the risk of a backover crash. These vehicles do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 111, "Rear Visibility."

Dealers will update the MBUX multimedia system software at no charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 19, 2022. You can also contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372, referencing recall number 2022080002.

If you own one of these vehicles, check your VIN for open recalls and schedule the free software update with an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer as soon as possible. Until the update is done, use extra caution and check around the vehicle carefully before reversing.
