Coachmen Apex Recall 22V489: Trailer tail lights may not light up, raising crash risk

NHTSA campaign 22V489, reported July 8, 2022, 43 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain travel trailers have tail lights that may have been wired incorrectly to an ON/OFF switch. When that switch is in the off position, the brake or tail lights may fail to illuminate.

Lights that do not work can make your trailer harder for other drivers to see, especially when braking or slowing, which increases the risk of a crash.

Dealers will rewire the tail lights free of charge. Owners who received the notification letter mailed August 9, 2022 can contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-358-0401, referencing recall number 220-1535. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
