BMW IX Recall 22V483: Warnings May Not Show in Valet Mode, Raising Crash Risk

NHTSA campaign 22V483, reported July 7, 2022, 6,930 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2022-2023 BMW iX and i4 electric vehicles, the Central Information Display may fail to show critical safety information, such as warning messages and warning lights, while the vehicle is in Valet Parking Mode. The affected vehicles therefore do not meet the federal display standard, FMVSS 101, Control and Displays.

When warnings are hidden, a driver may not notice a problem that needs attention, which can increase the risk of a crash.

The repair is free. An authorized BMW dealer will update the display's head unit software at no charge. Owners can also contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417, and should check their VIN for any open recalls.
