Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Recall 22V463: Accessory Sport Bar May Block or Disable Brake Light

NHTSA campaign 22V463, reported June 30, 2022, 242 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2022 full-size pickups equipped with an accessory sport bar may have a high-mounted brake light that does not work, and the sport bar may block the vehicle's existing high-mounted brake light. This means the vehicle may not meet federal lighting safety requirements.

An inoperative high-mounted brake light can reduce how visible your truck is to drivers behind you when you slow or stop, which increases the risk of a rear-end crash.

Dealers will inspect the installation of the accessory sport bar and provide correct vehicle wiring if needed, at no cost to you. Owners can contact GM customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. You can also check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
