Nissan Frontier Recall 22V457: Transmission May Fail to Hold in Park, Causing Rollaway

NHTSA campaign 22V457, reported June 24, 2022, 180,176 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2020-2022 Nissan Frontier and Titan pickups have a transmission parking pawl that may not engage when the vehicle is shifted into Park. If this happens, the vehicle can roll away even though it appears to be parked, which raises the risk of a crash.

Until the repair is done, owners are advised to apply the parking brake every time they park the vehicle. The fix is free: authorized Nissan dealers will replace the transmission parking pawl pin at no cost to you. Owner notification letters were mailed in November 2022.

To check whether your vehicle is included, enter your VIN at a recall lookup site or contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669, referencing recall numbers R22A2 and R22A3.
