Airstream Caravel Recall 22V452: Wheel Hub Can Separate From Axle, Risking Loss of Control

NHTSA campaign 22V452, reported June 24, 2022, 224 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A bearing washer inside the wheel hub assembly on certain 2022 Airstream travel trailers may crack. If it does, the hub can separate from the axle wheel end.

Hub separation can cause the trailer to lose control, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners of affected trailers should take this seriously and not ignore warning signs from the wheels or hubs.

An authorized dealer will replace the 42mm cartridge bearing washer at no charge. Owners can contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411. Owners should also check their VIN for open recalls and schedule the free repair.
