Honda Ridgeline Recall 22V430: Road salt can corrode frame and cause fuel tank leak

NHTSA campaign 22V430, reported June 16, 2022, 132,882 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Road salt buildup can corrode the rear frame where the fuel tank mounting bands attach. Over time, the corrosion may allow the fuel tank to detach, which can cause a fuel leak.

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire. This recall covers certain Honda Ridgeline pickups from 2006 to 2014 that were sold or ever registered in a number of Northeastern, Midwestern and Mid-Atlantic states and Washington D.C., where road salt is commonly used.

Authorized Honda dealers will inspect and repair the rear frame as necessary, free of charge. Depending on the extent of corrosion, Honda may offer to repurchase the vehicle. Owners who received a notification letter mailed August 9, 2022 can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138, referencing recall LCD. You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
